“Tee Off For Shelter” A Huge Success For SCV Homeless
The 11th annual golf tournament benefiting the homeless shelter raised over $15,500

On Saturday, October 28th, the SCCDC (Santa Clarita Community Development Corporation) hosted its eleventh annual golf tournament at the Vista Valencia Golf Course. Ten foursomes participated in a skills contest, golfed 18 holes, some better than others, followed by a dinner where amazing prizes were raffled off. The golf benefit raised over $15,500. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Santa Clarita Valley Emergency Winter Shelter, which feeds and provides shelter and counseling for the homeless throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

"The participation of the golfers and the many SCV local businesses that participated by donating items and services to show their support truly made for an incredibly fun-filled day!  Many golfers said they were looking forward to next year’s event!" Collette George (SCCDC).

Top sponsors of the event were EMC, FreeCreditReport.com, and Santa Clarita Valley Dental Care. Girls from SCV Scholarship Pageant helped hostess the event, posed for pictures with golfers and raffled out the numerous prizes. There were many other supporters and volunteers that made the event a success. If you missed out this year, look for us next year for our 12th annual golf tournament.

The Santa Clarita Emergency Winter Shelter (EWS) assists people with the help they need to improve their individual or family circumstances. The SCCDC has operated the EWS for the past nine years. Open from approximately Dec.1 through March 15 each year, the EWS provides shelter, food, clothing, medical and mental services as well as other assistance and referrals to its clients. Additionally, because minors are not permitted to stay at the EWS, qualifying local families with children receive shelter in a local motel through the SCCDC's voucher program.

The assistance that the EWS provides is a direct result of its many supporters and volunteers. In order to continue helping our hungry and homeless neighbors, please become a volunteer for the EWS or make a donation today.
